About Hessaire

Who we are and how to reach us.

Who makes Hessaire coolers?

Hessaire Products, Inc. was founded in 1997 by engineer Jack Hess. Products are developed in the company air movement laboratory in Cullman, Alabama, and tested in a 35,000 CFM air chamber. Hessaire makes mobile and fixed-mount evaporative coolers, mini-split heat pumps, ventilation fans and replacement parts.

What sizes of mobile evaporative cooler does Hessaire make?

Hessaire mobile evaporative coolers range from 900 CFM to 17,600 CFM, including 900, 1300, 2100, 3100, 5300, 11000 and 17600 CFM models plus a DC-powered 900 CFM model. Each product page lists the airflow, coverage area, water reservoir size, dimensions and power draw.

Mobile Evaporative Coolers

Cooling performance, water, maintenance and parts for Hessaire mobile coolers.

How much will an evaporative cooler lower the temperature?

Evaporative coolers typically lower air temperature by 15-25°F depending on humidity. Low humidity (10-30%) gives the best performance, moderate humidity (30-50%) gives good performance, and high humidity (above 60%) reduces effectiveness. Unlike air conditioning, evaporative coolers add moisture to the air, which makes them ideal for dry climates.

Why does my cooler work better with windows open?

Evaporative coolers need fresh air circulation to work. The cooled, humidified air needs somewhere to go as new hot, dry air enters. Open windows or doors on the opposite side of the room for cross-ventilation, and do not try to trap the cool air as you would with air conditioning, or the room will become humid and uncomfortable.

How long until I feel cool air?

It typically takes 2-5 minutes for the cooling pads to become fully saturated with water. Once saturated you should feel cool air immediately. A new unit or fresh pads may take slightly longer to saturate.

How often should I refill the water tank?

Water consumption depends on temperature, humidity and fan speed. In hot, dry conditions the tank may need refilling every 4-8 hours; in moderate conditions once a day or less. Check the water level indicator regularly. Some models support continuous fill through a garden hose connection.

Can I use ice in the water tank?

Some models have an ice compartment designed for this. Ice gives a temporary boost in cooling that fades as it melts. Check your manual to see whether your model is designed for ice, and do not put ice directly in the main tank unless the manual says so.

How often should I clean my evaporative cooler?

Weekly: drain and refill the water tank to prevent stagnation. Monthly: clean the tank with mild soap and water. Seasonally: deep clean, inspect all components and replace worn pads. End of season: drain completely, clean and dry the unit before storage.

How do I prevent musty odors?

Musty smells usually come from mold or mildew. Drain the tank weekly so water never sits stagnant, clean or replace the cooling pads regularly, run fan-only mode after use to dry the pads, store the unit dry when not in use, and consider cooler-safe water treatment additives.

When should I replace the cooling pads?

Replace cooling pads when you notice reduced cooling performance, visible mineral buildup or scaling, persistent odors after cleaning, or tears and deterioration of the pad material. Pads should generally be replaced at least once per cooling season.

Where can I get replacement parts for my Hessaire cooler?

Genuine replacement parts are sold on hessaire.com under Parts & Accessories. Have your model number ready when ordering. Common parts include cooling pads (media sets), pumps, casters, control panels and remote controls.

What does the mobile cooler warranty cover?

Warranty coverage varies by product. Manufacturing defects are covered; normal wear items such as pads and filters may not be, and damage from misuse or lack of maintenance is not covered. Check your product documentation for specific terms and keep your proof of purchase for warranty claims. No registration is required.

Mini-Split Heat Pumps

Error codes, heating, installation and warranty for Hessaire mini-splits.

How do I retrieve error codes from my Hessaire mini-split?

Check both units. Indoor unit: with the unit powered on for at least 5 minutes, press the Sleep button on the remote 10 times within 10 seconds, listening for a beep between presses; any error code appears on the indoor display. Outdoor unit: with the unit running for at least 5 minutes, carefully remove the top panel (three screws) and the control board cover, then record the Solid On / Off / Blinking pattern of LEDs 1, 2 and 3 and look it up in the Error Code Table in your manual. Give support both the indoor code and the outdoor LED pattern.

What if no error code appears on the indoor unit?

Check the outdoor unit LED pattern, because the fault may be outdoor-only. No indoor error code often means low refrigerant, the most common cause. In heating mode, if the larger suction line feels cool or only slightly warm and the smaller liquid line is not hot, the system is likely low on charge.

What does mini-split error code E19 mean?

E19 indicates an outdoor control board fault. Common causes are power surge damage (the most common), animal intrusion in the outdoor unit, or a faulty capacitor or compressor. Try power cycling first; if the error persists the outdoor control board likely needs replacement.

What does mini-split error code E13 mean?

E13 typically indicates the system is low on refrigerant. The indoor coil cannot reach the required temperature, so the blower will not run. Have a technician check for leaks and recharge the system.

Why will my mini-split not heat in cold weather?

The most common cause is low refrigerant. In heat mode the indoor coil must reach a set temperature before the blower runs, and low refrigerant prevents the coil from getting hot enough. Heat pumps are also less efficient as temperatures drop below 40°F. Have a technician check and recharge the refrigerant if needed.

What pressure should my mini-split have in heat mode?

In heat mode the high-side pressure should be approximately 400-450 PSI. If pressures are significantly lower, the system likely needs refrigerant.

Do I need to vacuum the line set before starting a mini-split?

Yes. You must vacuum the line set to at least 500 microns before releasing refrigerant. Moisture in the lines will damage the compressor.

What voltage does a Hessaire mini-split require?

Hessaire mini-splits require either 230V or 115V on a dedicated circuit depending on the model. Check the nameplate on your unit. Using the wrong voltage will damage the unit and void the warranty.

What is covered under the mini-split warranty?

Parts are covered for 1 year from purchase or installation, the compressor for up to 7 years, and indoor unit coils for 2 years against leaks. Labor, technician services and surge damage without a surge protector are not covered. Keep your proof of purchase; warranty claims require it.

Do I need a surge protector for my mini-split?

Yes. Control board failures caused by power surges are not covered under warranty unless a surge protector was installed. Hessaire strongly recommends a surge protector for every mini-split installation.
